Leica and Autodesk just dropped a game changing bomb in the field of laser scanning at Autodesk University 2016. What was once a long-winded, tedious, and expensive process has now been dramatically simplified due to the release of the new Leica BLK360, and the new Autodesk ReCap Mobile Controller App.

The BLK360 claims to be the fastest, smallest, and lightest scanner of its class in the world. Coming in at a mere 6.5″ tall and weighing only 2.2lbs, it is able to capture an entire scan in under 3 minutes. It also features full spherical imaging with HDR and LED flash support.

The cloud connectivity then allows the scans to be synced online providing the rest of the design team immediate access to the files.

Leica have announced that it will be available for purchase online during the spring of 2017, and at a very affordable cost of US$15,990.
