Custom family templates

871

Ever felt like you always start a new Family the same way every time by tediously having to manually add your company standards?
Well, you can create your own company Family template files.

Start a new Family the usual way by picking which template file you want to start from. Then add your company standards to the Family and any other starting data such as Reference Planes, Dims, Parameters, etc, and then save and close the Family.

Now go into Windows Explorer and locate the file, and rename the file extension from .RFA to .RFT.

A Revit Family template is nothing more than a renamed Family file. Now you can browse to the newly created template file whenever you start a new Family.
