Structural columns and beams have many different sectional shapes. These shapes have sizes controlled by many different parameters (i.e. Height, Web, etc). This means it can be tricky to ensure that all your parameters are the same across all your Families.
Using Family Parameter Section Shapes can help.
Steps
- In the Family parameters set the Section Shape.
- Go to the Family Types dialogue where you will now see it has been populated with standard structural parameters.
This not only provides parameter consistency, but will also speed up your Family creation.
Note: Section Shape parameters cannot be accessed in Tags.
